NEW MANCHESTER — Oak Glen and East Liverpool showed just what a rivalry should be Tuesday. With lead changes, a late comeback and a standout performance the showdown had all the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster. But an 18-5 run — eight of which came from Oak Glen’s Clay Owings — gave Vince Gilliam’s squad a win and bragging rights in the “Battle of the Bridge.” For now. The teams will meet again Jan. 30 in East Liverpool where the Potters (2-6) will look to even the season series at 1-1. And for Gilliam, the rivalry makes all the difference. “It was a hard-fought, clean game, which is what it should be. It’s rivals,” Gilliam said.
