Eliminate one or two superfluous teaching positions and there you go!

Or better yet, instead of an armed target in a uniform that increases payroll, just let an anonimous and volunteering teacher or staff member carry concealed. Problem solved. But that's a common sense solution, so figure the odds on it ever happening.

Use custodial staff. No arrest powers, no student intimidation from a badge looking over their shoulders. A non union position also. All you need to do is announce that there are staff currently training and the desired effect will start. Cut the super's pay. That has to be the biggest waste of money other than asst principals.

Crestview staff is diligent about who comes and goes from the school during regular hours. The staff also does an excellent job dealing with bullying and other issues that have caused some of these school shootings. At this point and time, Ms. Neville seems to be a bit hysterical.

HEADLINE: Poland schools will have a police officer in buildings

POLAND

The board of education agreed Monday to allow a Poland Township police officer in all school buildings and to spend up to $80,000 in security upgrades district-wide.

Poland Trustees Mark Naples, Robert Lidle Jr. and Eric Ungaro offered a full-time police officer to be dedicated to school security. Currently, an officer makes periodic checks of the high school.

"A diligent but unarmed staff isn't going to stop jack."

Maybe not jack, but it stopped Bryan though. The shooter in California who was talked out of the gun by a teacher.

So sunshine, you would prefer we do not protect our children with armed security because a kid was talked out of a shooting once?

I think there are many playing harps right now that would disagree with you.

notSocialist, Crestview is a smaller school than Poland. The office staff know the parents and students by name, not by numbers. They genuinely care about the students and it shows. A stranger can't get into the school without identifying themselves. Crestview Schools are rated excellent and it shows.

"A stranger can't get into the school without identifying themselves."

All that security didn't help all the kids that got shot, did it? Got past it all, didn't he?

Nope, you are both just plain wrong on this issue.

You are aware the parents of students at the Sandy Hook school want MORE armed protectors at the school, not more locks?

I absolutely would not want my child to have to go to school passing an armed security guard each day. Talk about instilling fear. It's one thing to be alert, it's quite another to be paranoid. Bullet proof yourself if you want notsocialist, make a weapon proof bubble to live in as you make your way through life. I'm not walking around in fear.

So when your kids see an officer, they become fearful? What have you been teaching them?

I AM alert, not paranoid. I also believe in common sense. The only thing this 'gun free schools' has done is put all the defenseless kids in one spot where one nutcase can have a field day.

History proves this to be true.

The cowards who commit these crimes LOVE having a place where their victims are all grouped and unarmed.

A.I know for a fact that not all Sandy Hook parents want that. B.My children are not fearful of police. What I don't want them to be fearful of is going to school. C.You seem to be to inept to understand the difference.

And about them loving having grouped unarmed victims.. look at the shootings on the military bases (Ft Hood). Kinda blows that theory out of the water doesn't it. Fact is, there are idiots who will do this regardless. No matter if there are guards, no matter if there are teachers with guns. If they want to shoot people up, they will figure out a way to do it. More guns at schools is not the solution.

"And about them loving having grouped unarmed victims.. look at the shootings on the military bases (Ft Hood). Kinda blows that theory out of the water doesn't it. "

No, it doesn't. Soldiers are not allowed to carry their weapons while on base at Fort Hood.

"B.My children are not fearful of police. What I don't want them to be fearful of is going to school."

If they're not fearful of police, why would they be fearful seeing a police officer at school to protect them? This doesn't make sense.

"A.I know for a fact that not all Sandy Hook parents want that. "

Maybe not every single one, but most do. Don't twist the facts to make your point, sunshine. You are famous for that.

"Fact is, there are idiots who will do this regardless. No matter if there are guards, no matter if there are teachers with guns."

Wrong.

"Soldiers are not allowed to carry weapons while on base at Fort Hood." True, but Fort Hood does have Base Civilian Police Force, which includes a Swat Team, definitely not a gun free zone.

It's also wide open. It is not an enclosed building. It is a very different scenario.

Are you trying to tell me that this jihadi wouldn't have been stopped sooner if the soldiers had their weapons?

Do you believe we should have an armed guard in every building, every open area? There was an armed guard at Columbine, he was unsuccessful in stopping the carnage. Should we have one in every classroom? Wouldn't it be smarter to limit magazine clip size, so mass shooters would have to reload more often and therefore be easier to subdue?

Bottom line....An armed guard in a school building is not going to stop someone who has their mind set on going in to do harm. In my opinion, the only thing a security guard or police officer in a school building is going to do is ease the fear of most children and make parents feel a bit more safe about sending their children. An armed guard would have not likely been able to completely prevent the Sandy Hook tragedy.

So what? They would have stopped it at sometime, most likely before the body count got to 27.

Victoria Soto, the teacher who put her body between the gunman and her students, could have stopped this man right then before ANY kids died. She had the courage, unfortunately this hero didn't have the equipment.

My way, the innocent have a chance at survival. Your way, they are a maggot retirement home.

How very compassionate of you.
