Gee, guess what every school now has in Newtown, Connecticut? Yup! TWO armed guards in every school.

Watchdog, you are correct these are knee jerk reactions to this tragedy. We do not need to remove guns from the equation we can however register guns and make all gun owners responsible for their actions. That said we should not be living behind locked bars because of a few crazies. What we need is comprehensive mental health care in this country and the realization a lot of people do not belong freely living in a sane society. We need to reopen mental health hospitals and try to find those before they cause tragedy. You are never going to prevent all tragedies though no matter how you regulate guns, no matter how you try to protect everyone. Living in fear is not really living.

" How many of those people were criminals? How many of them were law abiding citizens that had no choice but use to lethal force against a criminal breaking into their home that left them no other choice but to shoot to protect themselves? "

How many were suicides?

"Point is the gangs along with the drugs and the metally ill could care less."They will kill you,me or anyone who gets in their way." "

They'll kill you easily. I, however, will at least have a small chance.

"I'm sure they would be better at coming up with a low cost, efficient plan then the school board would be. "

I'll buy that.

O and for the record I don't own a gun and don't really care to own one. But I don't want my right to own one, if I so desired, to be taken away.

The liberal goal is not to disarm would be mass killers. The liberal goal is to disarm the genral population of America. Notice when they talk about your right to bear arms they always bring up hunting. Our rights to bear arms was not put in our constitution so we could go hunting. It was put in there so "We the Peple" could defend ourselves against an oppressive government that might come to power in this country. Blow away the smoke and you will see the real reason for all this gun ban talk. When guns are banned only the government and criminals will have guns.

Phoenix, that response from our school board was hysterically funny. This is the question I have for those genius school officials that pretend they know what they are doing. Once those students are herded into the school so the teachers monitoring those two exits can figure out who belongs and who doesn't belong. WHO is going to monitor those two doors when the Shooter shows up an hour later after the tardy bell rings? Which unarmed teacher is going to volunteer to sit at those doors to confront the shooter and smack him on the hand with a ruler?

I will not lay down my weapons to pacify those in this country that are playing with their hearts instead of their heads. Criminals will not obey gun bans.

That number, not accurately represented, but just for the sake of argument reflects the fact that 1000 people have been killed since the Ct. shooting. I am not picking a fight with you, just asking you to take this into consideration before you unleash your hate for me. Of those 1000 people, break it down. How many of those people were criminals? How many of them were law abiding citizens that had no choice but use to lethal force against a criminal breaking into their home that left them no other choice but to shoot to protect themselves?

1000 people died from guns is a knee jerk response. As if the only thing that matters is that phrase alone. That is where we are screwing up.

Here is the way I am looking at it. You don't want that number to grow? Then the Government better come up with away to disarm the CRIMINALS. Because I have news for the Government. I will be come a criminal because the Government has not showed any plan to stop them only me.

Until these knee jerk responses come to end and we start looking at every single contributing factor playing a major role in these shootings there will never be a solution.

From reading the art, the Salem Police Dept. was involved,

I don't believe there is a low cost solution..

Things people over look is, These people don't care.If they kill one or a hundred.

Ladybug, I was talking about local law inforcement coming up with a plan as a service to the community. I'm sure they would be better at coming up with a low cost, efficient plan then the school board would be.

Trained proff. Ok

Wheres all the money and resources coming from to do all of this.

Salem has 4 schools.how much would it cost to be able to lock them down and pay for a security off at each school.

wages alone would avg, $ 50/60 not taking into measure other costs.

I have yet to hear a real solution about turning our society around,

The gun people say more guns. The other people say less guns.

Point is the gangs along with the drugs and the metally ill could care less."They will kill you,me or anyone who gets in their way."

Except for nation who don't mind slaugthering their own people,we seem to be the only one on a killing spree with one citizen killing another

Watchdog, agree, trained professionals should handle school security, not school boards.

You want to do yourself a favor and your children? Stop allowing Government to control you. Stop letting the media and the Government keep you focused on the only issue they want right now...gun bans and what did the shooters use. Stop looking at this stuff and start looking at what they do not tell you. All contributing factors that nobody wants to look and why we will never have solutions to any of this.

Scratch those last two lines of that previous comment.

The facts are clear that even the police were documenting in reports that that school board because of the so called "wealthy" in that town controlled the school board to keep their juvenile delinquents contained from public view. AS in PUBLIC POLICE RECORDS. Again, I will ask you Viper1 you want to continue to call me a fool?

Yep, if trusting our trained professionals to adequately plan and come up with ideas to protect our children makes me a fool...GOD HELP YOU!

"Lets see i heard one fool say let the police handle it i'll rely on them. Well so did the other parents who's kids are dead."

You really want to put your child's safety solely in a school boards hands? Really? You call me a fool? Viper1, you need to go do some homework starting with Newton. Learn how PRIOR to this deadly shooting by documented school board minutes that contained parents fighting with them over the fact just 6 months prior to this the school board REMOVED the school resource officer. Then you need to read the documented complaints of parents that came out against that school board over the fact they had turned these schools into prisons. This was a school system in an area of very well to do parents. The documented police records show that this community was overloaded with juvenile problems in their very own school system.

Then you need to see the documented evidence in that police department in reports that You want to keep calling me a fool?
