"But need to know what factors you believe hurt our ability to fight crime."

Councilwoman, it would a privilege to discuss this with you. How about you leave me a convenient date and time that would suit your schedule. I would be more than happy to give you a call.

Not trying to be stupid, but I need to know, what is the 3D shop? I voted for the full time drug task force officer this year and also to replace him with another full time officer. I support increasing the force whenever possible. It is just a start. But need to know what factors you believe hurt our ability to fight crime. If you don't want to post publicly. Give me a call.

Until those two contributing factors are corrected, 20 police officers or 25 police officers are not going to make a difference.

"PattiHannah Want more vote for more."

What exactly would I be voting for Viper1?

Let me throw this in before you respond. Salem's population isn't growing. The crime amongst the population is what is growing. That is because of complacency not money issues, sry J.T, that finger is pointed at not just Chief Floor but City leaders.

The Salem Police Department already has plenty of resources available, they just don't utilize them. To be on the safe side of this argument, since I am on the outside looking in. My best guess is to say 50% of the problem is because this agency struggles with...A.P.E. and the 3D shop. Those two contributing factors is what will define J.T.'s leadership if he is going to make an impact on this community.

Glad to see JT in there. A good man and a good plan. Kind of curious how any one can expect the men to do more then they can with what they have?PattiHannah Want more vote for more. I would like to see 25 police. Population climbs, people demand more and no one wants any tax. What kind of sense does this make?

"He also supports the Second Amendment and said his officers will do what they can with what they have."

Supporting the 2nd Amendment honorable, accepting officers will do what they can with what they have. UNACCEPTABLE

I for one, am thrilled to see our new Police Chief taking this stance or some could call it strategy to be aggressively "proactive" instead of reactive. That change alone, with the cooperation of local officials and with public support it can make a huge impact on the drugs and crime in this community. There are so many programs that can be implemented for the public that will work effectively.
