They request 6 yrs of W2's and tax returns to verify residence, which we provided promptly. We lived in Salem for 3 years - they sent us a statement for 6 years of tax? These people are inept, corrupt, or both. I can also confirm they neither answer, nor return, phone calls. They give you 10 days to remit payment in full or turn over to collections, suspect they don't answer to wait out this period.

On a side note my business partner moved out of state this tax year and we needed to pick a new business location. Guess where we WON'T be locating. Congratulations on your success Salem. Next time I suggest notifying new residents of your tax, oh, perhaps when they sign up for water service, rather than sandbagging them with an audit. People under 40 probably don't get the local paper or follow city gov't. Looking forward to the next election cycle. Hope it's worth the couple hundred bucks. If I don't get through tomorrow, I'm contacting attorneys re: class action. *facepalm*

File your taxes and you won't have issues. Don't let the door hit you.
