But, you see, I'm from Salem, Ohio...not Washington, DC. And it seems pretty simple to me.

Why waste each others time.None of this will get done anyway.

We been talking about SS,Medicare and healthcare for 3 decades,

We might get an immagration deal since Kennedy and McCain presented one over a hundred yrs ago.

If you would take the time to read everything I have written, you wouldn't have to ask that question.

You'd fit right in Kozy,

Never a str, answer. Tell me which ones we could do without and why.

My approach is a balanced type.

Waste, fraud, duplication and eleimanate the ones we don't need anymore,

That would be to hard, Just keep cutting in the same area.

Seems to me Tom Coburn is the only one who addresses the problem with a little common sense.

He's even smart enough to say he's a term limit candidate.

Bill Clinton allowed private business to grow w/o regulating it to death and he cut taxes, so if we had s President who did even that it would help. He also had a desire to negotiate rather than belittle and demand...yep, I would choose him over Obama.

Clinten served during a time when people went to washington to serve the people.

Know their most interested in getting re-elected.

The avg, rep. makes $35000/week times 2 weeks easter recess, along with the other 4 weeks off so far this yr. Not bad.. Good thing it wasn't some lazy union person.

What if we left Vet. Affairs alone and to keep you happy...cut the others in half. It would cut annual spending by close to $600 BILLION. And agree to no additional spending in the other departments.

It would be a start.

And after you answer those questions...what do you think the labor department does? And who's doing such a fine job of stopping drugs from entering our country?

Labor 1913...$137.97 billion> 17,347employees; Health and Human Services...$879.20 billion> 67,000 employees; Housing and Urban Development...$40.53 billion> 10,600employees; Transportation $73.20 billion> 58,622employees; Energy $24.10billion> 109,094employees; Education $45.40billion> 4,487employees; Veterans Affairs(formerly an independent agency as the Veterans Administration) $97.70billion> 235,000employees.

Every one of these is not covered by the Constitution...could we cut, let's say just education? What if we did away with energy in exchange for a flat corporate tax? Why not put HUD back to the states where it belongs?

ladybug said: "All law enforcement agency's are retricted and left short because of budget cuts,

Salem is no different."

That is completely false. Salem, as most communities, has plenty of money flowing into the government treasury. The problem however, is the allocation of that money. We could divert at least $600,000 from the fire department and put it into the police department to help take care of the crime problem.

WE HAVE A CRIME PROBLEM, NOT A FIRE PROBLEM!

The solution is quite simple; it is only a matter of aligning our spending with proper priorities. Let's get on with it - TODAY

I'm kind of courious Kozy .

Just where do you believe what areas all these cuts should come from.

Apperantly the repubs . pick the same few places,

Like big oil could use some more tax payer money.
