This is why I love Salem. In other parts of the country, the teacher in Florida, I believe, ordered his students to stomp on a paper with the word "Jesus" on it. This town's people have values, in my opinion, such as respect, reverence, dignity, love of family and country, a desire to educate and better oneself, sacrifice and patriotism. If this event was held in some cities in our country, it would be met with rocks, jeers, and disrespectful crowds.

I'm all for it, assuming that respect, reverence, and dignity would also be shown for any Jewish, Muslim, or any other religious group that would wish to perform a similar action in Salem.

Grammarpolice, I believe that the people of this town would indeed show respect for any such event sponsored by a faith different than their own. Salem people are good people. You have to move out of the area to understand that. When I read the comments the other day that Salem was turning into Youngstown, Detroit and Chicago, I had to laugh. You truly have to step back and leave the town before you realize what a treasure it is, and its people, in my opinion.
