I believe it falls under the constitution as part of the 5th amendment. quote "nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." Forcing someone to demolish a building is depriving them of their property. The city is doing the only thing they can do. They are going thru the due process of law required by the constitution. Like I said before I am not sticking up for the owners I am sticky up for the system. It works it just don't work as fast as some would like.

"Do you have something against the document that defines America?" What does the constitution have to do with fixing the building? Don't have to defend my thoughts of the constitution. Next will be talking about the 2nd amendment.

Exactly...The Constitution is a wonderful, well designed map to the finest form of government that has ever existed. It needs no help or redefining. The problems lie in people not knowing what's in it and in passing laws that mess with it.

Notsocialist, I think it is really sad that there are people that have such distain for the very document that makes this country what it is. Our whole system of checks and balances in our government is based on it. When the supreme court rules they are suppose to rule on whether something is Constitutional or not, that is their purpose, it is not just give their opinion based on the imaginations of their own minds. The Constitution is the very foundation upon which our nation stands. Without it we fall.

Ladybug says "The document was wriiten over 200 yrs ago and needs reviewed " No ladybug it don't need reviewed. What needs reviewed is all the laws that we have on the books that violate the constitution.

And here are 5 months into the new yr. and grid lock and partisian politics still at hand "ON BOTH SIDES"

They haven't passed s--- all yr.

Gun control, now fighting over immigration, the budget ,Never have solved the post off.problem.

The problem with the country is the same at home. All the time spent is blaming the other party or person.

Back to the topic,NEVER SHOULD THIS BEEN ALLOWED TO GO ON THIS LONG.

If the property is "condemed." It should be a court priority"

Ladybug says: "I also believe in bringing into the 21st century."

The document was written as fundamental laws upon which all other laws have to stand or fall. The fundamental ideals written into the Constitution are for all ages.

Only because people will not stand up and demand our constitution be upheld. They keep voting people in office that have no respect for the document and try to get around it at every turn. Final authority has to come back to the constitution or we are going to lose our freedoms completely. That includes not only on a state and federal level but also on the local level.

I believe in the law of the land.I also believe in bringing into the 21st century. You think what you want .There is no reason for this to be going on this long unless like watchdog said,

It started out with past adm taking sides.

Ladybug I am sorry you don't seem to have any desire to see highest law of our land protected, I happen to think without our Constitution we would not be any better off than those that live under tyrants and dictators. A free nation has to have a reference point of authority or we become subject to the whims of what ever man comes along. Our reference point is our Constitution. It must be protected and upheld or we will be headed for tranny.
