CARTS should have replace the drivers with the most senority years ago..they've learned how to work the system and leave clients waiting for hours at times so not to disrupt the DRIVER's scheduled stops which are usually prepared a week in advance..This should be run more like a Taxi system with the ability to bend routes as needed for those needing rides ASAP. I've seen drivers leave doctors offices with clients waiting to be picked up because they werent on that piticular drivers schedule..rediculous!!

The CAA voted to hire replacement workers as soon as possible and contracted with Huffmaster Security to provide security at the CAA and CARTS garage.

Gee, I wonder why they think security will be needed...

...lets face it...they dont need more pay..they need different people. The ones that have been there awhile make sure that the newbies get fired if they dont abide by their system which obviously is about THEM and not the welfare and well being of the client..Hiring "security"?...haha..ya that was funny

"Unions don't care who they hurt, as long as they get theirs." So true. In this day and age these idiots are getting greedy. A 3% raise is fair. The 5% or so they are wanting is ridiculous....

It's just a shame that the drivers couldn't see how bad things are and just keep working. The loss in pay to strike will be impossible to make up...and you never know the same offer will still be waiting for them when they begin to feel the pinch.

Why is the little people have to do all the sacrifising,

Ladybug states: "Why is the little people have to do all the sacrifising"

Yep ladybug, why do they? The elderly, the poor, the sick, those that rely on CARTS?

FIRE THEM ALL and make room for those that NEED jobs NOW. This is ridiculous. I bet almost all of these drivers get some type of welfare benefit from food stamps, assistance ON TOP of this job. This whole system is RIDICULOUS.

Your entitled to your opinion and me mine..Yes some are retired and some depend on those wages to support a family.

At 410.50/hr =less than $22000/yr .

Poverty level is around $30000 or sum.

I can't think why you always believe people asking for a fair wage has to be considered a money grab,

The avg, hrly, wage in America right now is around $21/hr,

$10.50 is half that.

Sure do. Under our welfare system people automatically qualify at certain income levels..

Just like Wal-Mart paying low wages so their employees can get welfare benefits,

Their always being asked to sacrifice more too.

According to BLS the median federal wage of a bus, transit driver is $17.59. State is the same. However, locally is what applies because so COL. Local median wage is $10.68. That is what the Head Start drivers make. OES code used is 53.3021...one cannot say justify the strike by saying the "average wage in America is $21 an hour" Comparing federal wage to local wage is like apples to oranges bug. You should know that...yes, our gas costs 3.89 a gallon but in Ca., is almost $5

The $21./hr was meant to be nothing more than a guide line,

If the avg wage in the area is $10.68 .It's no wonder so many families live in poverty .

Thats barely $22000/yr.

I got paid that 40 yrs ago.

I thought a raise was offered...what sacrifice are you talking?

With so many unemployed and even more giving up, just nothing good can come of this as I read this article.
