Good board that has made good moves; thanks to Bush for his good service. We have come a long, long way in the last 6 years, mainly because we put sensible business people on the board.

Yeah, it is an appointment, at least in the short term, no matter what. I think with partisan positions there may be a catch where if they resign before the midpoint of their term they will permanantly fill it via election, but non-partisan may be different.

And considering this is the best board we've had in at least 10 years, I trust their appointment.

Oakleaves wouldn't the board still have appointed someone to complete his term, regardless of when he resigned? I believe it is the board's job to fill the seat of an unexpired term of board members no matter how or when the seat is vacated. I am pretty sure the only time the voters fill it is when the seat is up for re-election.

I find it amazing that Mr. Bush resigned on Wednesday, the very day when non partisan petitions were due to be handed in. Why is it that it was not posted in the Salem News before today??? A little conspiracy going on. Not the first won't be the last.. My thought is could the board members already have their new member already picked out???
