I don't think they had any choice in spending 2.7 Mill. I believe they had to update the plant because of government (EPA) mandates.I would rather see them have money sitting around in an account so when it comes to these kinds of improvements they can pay for them rather than having to go borrow the money and end up paying interest. what I think is good about the this water board is they have had enough sense to save up the money.

It was an article from a few years back, and this paper even supplied a chart. Salem's water was the cheapest in this area, and it was cheapest by far. Most other cities around here get upcharged from larger cities for water (Leetonia, Washingtonville), or the cities get water from a large distributor like BWD or Aqua Ohio who rips them off.

Just simple facts that don't support your agenda.

"hank you for confirming that MOUNTAIN OF CASH that is unethically wrong to have."

Sounds like they're spending a pile of it on the crapital improvements. Hopefully the listed work will reduce the smell, so MOSU can get rid of that eucalyptus nosekechief.

So, pay cash for the work, or pay interest?

"GET RID OF THE CONSTANT FOUL 24/.7 SMELL "

It does get a bit aromatic, even just driving along the bypass.

Curious, did they build the plant after you bought your house?

"Salem has the lowest water rates around, so apparently they've done something right to charge very little and have a mountain of cash."

No they don't have lowest water rates around, second they are inline with most throughout the state and third thank you for confirming that MOUNTAIN OF CASH that is unethically wrong to have. We are being OVER CHARGED on our UTILITY BILLS and SHORT CHANGED on services most utility departments and cities have. Like trash removal. And taking into consideration who we sell our services too, the revenues are very generous. Then throw on top the one main reality. That utility department belongs to the PEOPLE, the taxpayers, the residents. NOT that cute little bunch in that little photo stunt of celebration. BUT how quickly that is forgotten.

Well I hate to say this.

But that $ 2.7 million coming from the $11 to 12 million the water dept has been setting on.

Along with collecting int. income for the city.

Just smile every time we pay that water and sewer bill.

Here's ts1227 genius mantra...ignore the MOSU11 post and PARTY PARTY PARTY PARTY!

For the record, since it's beneath you to understand. I NEVER said don't spend the money...I SAID STOP CELEBRATING IT.

You don't play a celebration game and in the same breath BRAG how it's going to cost people money. That over rated bunch in this picture should be ashamed of themselves.

Watchdog's genius mantra: don't spend a dime on anything, let the town rot because if one cent of taxpayer money is ever spent it's out of line, yet complain that there's no development because no business wants to locate here as is.
