One small flaw in your presentation Grant. In the states that legalized pot it is strictly for medical purposes not for recreational purposes. I ask in the recent bust was it being used for medical purposes? Most states limit the amount of marijuana that can be possessed for medical puposes to a few ounces. This raid produced five pounds hardly a bust of someone that needed it for medical purposes. There are many things that have medical value but are not good for everyday usage. Face it people smoke pot to get a buzz. It lets them escape reality for a few moments but when they come out of it they are right back into reality. Their so called relaxed state disappears. It is not good it is a faux satisfaction that does not do away with the circumstances of life that people are trying to escape. The fact remains it is illegal for recreational purposes even in those states that have legalized it for medical purposes.

Ok Jack

They have tried 42 times to change Obamacare and failed .Period !

The senate passed a spending bill on Mar. 2013. The house refused 21 times to go to conference ,which is part of the const. process.

They now try to piecemeal the budget rather than growing up and opening the whole gov.

Finally to shut down the gov , or consider causing a financial nightmare over this bill is BS

The healthcare bill is law .like it or not.

It will either work or fail and to put the people threw more BS is going to be the down fall of the republican party

Well, concerned, you're wrong. Washington and Colorado both have legal recreational marijuana laws. Also, you describe it as if it's like ***. Escape reality? People definitely smoke it to get a buzz, the same way people drink a 6 pack to get a buzz.

And as far as your 5 pounds goes, there is no need for someone to have that much when it's legal. No more black market distribution. Not to mention, I think you should check those facts too. In states with medicinal they have growing laws as well. If you're growing for a dispensary, you're allowed quite a bit.

Marijuana may have been decriminalized in 21 other states but it is still against the law in Ohio. The Salem Police and the Task Force did their job. You act like they should just turn their head and walk away thank God you aren't our Police Chief.

OK Ladybug

Since you want to quote the constitutional process, let’s consider this. Congress is required under the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 to pass a spending plan every year so that it can be scored by the Congressional Budget Office. Harry Reid and the Senate refused to even consider a budget for over four years so that they wouldn’t have to run for re-election on their record of raising taxes and reckless spending. The reason the Senate budget bill did not gain traction is because it called for a $1 trillion tax hike. I guess the Senate believes they can repeatedly break the law because they are Senators.

How about the having the Senate grow up and stop spending our country into bankruptcy. All the House is attempting to do is to begin to have our government live within its means like we as citizens are expected to do. Getting rid of Obamacare is the first step to that end because we as a country cannot afford another onerous entitlement.

Grant I stand corrected on 2 of the 21 that have legalized it. but that still leaves 19 that it is for medicinal only. Maybe I don't understand the thrill. I have never felt the need to try to escape reality with either alcohol or drugs. : )

OK . And this year they did pass a budget after all the whining from the house ,

Yet it was never brought up for compromise,They just shoved Ryans plan threw after changing the yr, and date. Never any consideration for other view points.

They only spend whats approved by the house,

Never had any trouble over spending from 2001 to 2008 Did they ?

What the senate bill calls for makes no difference.

That's when you set at the table and find common ground

And if you follow what goes on in the house,

Every bill is passed mostly on a partisian basis with out any consideration of the views of the minor party.

Oakleaves, can you quote the line where I criticized the police? Or said they shouldn't have enforced the law? You're missing the point entirely. I even went out of my way to say it has nothing to do with the police lol

Grant, I believe Dr. Sanjay Gupta says he is now in favor of marijuana for medicinal use, as it often works when nothing else does. But that is not what you stated.

I personally don't think I'd care if marijuana was legalized. But I also have done research. Talk to anyone who works with youth with drug addiction problems--none feel marijuana should be legalized as it was a gateway drug for those kids. Those people don't see alcohol as leading to harder drugs, but know marijuana does.

Is it the personality of the users? Maybe. Is it the age? Maybe. Regardless, it did open doors to bigger problems. (I'd like to ask Mr. Neiswonger if his drug addictions started with alcohol or pot.)
