WEll I dis-agree.

Most policies include family coverage. Now if the wife has coverage elsewhere Ok.

Second why does everyone want to blast public employess .They have a job to do just like the rest of us,

Third insurance is usually a part of most employee benefits, why does everyone want to keep taking from the middle class.

Ted Cruz the republican idiot ******* about Obamacare but has a Cadillac policy of his own.

Why are these costs so high ?

Because healthcare cost have been rising at the rate of 11% /yr for the last decade. And no one knows how to fix it ? Mostly hot air

My son-in-law has teacher union coverage--this year what he personally pays for the rest of the family coverage went up quite a bit. So I would say that complete spousal/family coverage is NOT the norm.

Most policies i'm aware cover both. Of course family coverage will be more than single,

How and if this cost is passed along to the employee depends on the Co.

Also if the spouse has coverage else where ,their insurance co. is billed first and possibly the other insurance covers the difference if any.

Actually there are instances where the husband and wife are covered on each others group plan. However this is one of the things that are wrong with the system. Both of the employers are paying for the spouse coverage therefore someone is paying for coverage that they already have. That is a total waste of money. In recent years the more normal thing is for the employer to pay for the employee and the employee is expected to pay for the dependents or the employer will pay a percentage of the total cost for employee and his family. There are very few employers that pick up the whole tab for the family these days. The cost of insurance has gotten so expensive that employers can no longer afford to pick up the whole tab if they want to remain in business.
