Push for pole replacements at state’s expense

SALEM— City electrician Mike Bibbee said he’s pushing for replacement of all the traffic light poles in the downtown area, hopefully with the state footing the bill....

I bet that went over well. Starting to get the general idea why council members are taking heat. :)

Good questions.

I'm glad ODOT's going to be the one paying for replacements (at least I assume they are). And ever so thankful that the pole that went down didn't cause other problems. Man, when you look at the location of the worst poles...we dodged some big ones here.

And I agree with Jennifer Brown--some of the downtown sidewalks are horrible, and thus dangerous. I hope they listen to her.

$1,000 inspection by a private firm? What private firm and is the State going to cover that expense and reimburse the city?

Who was the original pole supplier? Who contracted with the that pole supplier, the City or ODOT?
