Forgot my other line.

Do not mistrust them because they are simply Amish.

Me? LOL, I trust nobody based on religion or faith.

But I understand what you are saying. Don't trust them simply because they are Amish.

rpmwwe here is my only problem with what your saying. We can't pass judgement on all of them for what a few may do.

These people live in a cult-like world where they are taught from birth an "us versus them" mentality. They must stick to their principles when dealing with each other, but when they are dealing with non-Amish then they play by a different set of rules. One of their current schemes is to solicit way under value timbering contracts with elderly owners of property with standing timber and take everything they can, leave a huge mess behind, and disappear like a bunch of thieving gypsies.

They pay Federal Income Tax, State Income Tax and Local Income Tax when they file their returns. They also pay Property Tax and School Tax, even though many of their children do not participate in the Public School Systems.

Do you still want to run them out? Because I don't.

The only taxes that the Amish are exempt from and do not pay, are the Social Security and Medicare tax. Because of their vow of poverty and their Religous beliefs, they do not use the Social Security system or receive any medical benefits from Medicare. They are a group who believe in taking care of their own.

They own homes, cars, trucks, have D.L. and pay and are taxed on everything the same as we do other than those two exceptions.

They have a right to travel a roadway with their buggy just like we have a right to ride a bike.

"The township recently purchased four Amish buggy road signs that will be posted on those roads to warn drivers to be on the lookout while traveling through. The signs cost $68 a piece."

Should have made them flashing neons. We have a "special kind of stupid" running loose on these roadways and they need all the help they can get!!
