Chamber ponders prospects of bypass

LISBON — The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce is unsure whether turning U.S. Route 30 into a freeway that would bypass the village is a good thing for local merchants....

Maybe those downtown businesses can share the wealth of all that traffic they are having driven to them now and they could pay to offset the cost of the added wear on the streets when the bypass gets scratched.

If the village of Lisbon and local businesses see all this revenue from traffic in town why cant they put some of that revenue towards fixing the streets? I avoid coming into town because of the increased wear and tear on my vehicle! How does that help local business? If the truck traffic were reduced I would think the streets might be easier to maintain, but then again I have been accused of using too much cmmon sense.
