Mr. and Mrs. William R. Castles, 1718 Ansley Way, Salem, observed their 50th wedding anniversary at a private celebration at 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at Station Square in Pittsburgh.
The former Alma G. Golderer and Mr. Castles were married on Aug. 9, 1958, at the Second Presbyterian Church in Newark, N.J. The Rev. Robert McCarthy officiated.
Mr. Castles retired from Lehmann Mills in October 1997 following 42 years of service. He is a member of AMVETS and the American Legion.
Mrs. Castles is a homemaker.
Mr. and Mrs. Castles are members of the First Christian Church. They are the parents of Ron Castles and Christina Helman, both of Salem, and Joseph Castles of Louisville.
The festivities were hosted by Ron and Pam Castles.
Joining in the celebration were the couple's eight grandchildren.
