Failure to yield
David E. Tolson, 47, of Beloit, was cited for failure to yield following a two-vehicle collision at 7:14 a.m. Thursday in Knox Township. Tolson was stopped northbound on Case Road and attempted to turn left onto U.S. Route 62 and was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Brenda L. Porter, 47, of Sebring. Porter was transported by ambulance to Salem Community Hospital.
Assured clear distance ahead
Samuel N. Couchenour, 16, of Salem was cited for failure to assure clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle collision at 11:20 a.m. Aug. 23 in Beaver Township. Couchenour allegedly rear-ended a vehicle on state Route 14 driven by Arnold L. VanPelt, who had been stopped in traffic.
Hasan X. Bakia, 62, of Lakewood, was cited for failure to assure clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle collision at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday in Butler Township. Bakia allegedly rear-ended a vehicle on state Route 9 driven by Elizabeth A. Hall, 31, of Winona, who was stopped in traffic.
A three-vehicle crash Aug. 20 resulted in all three drivers being cited. Michael T. Callahan, 27, of Columbiana, was cited for making an improper turn, while Kathryn C. Wilson, 61, of Beaver Falls, Penn., and Kristen E. Morris, 22, of East Palestine, were each cited with failure to assure clear distance ahead. According the state highway patrol, Callahan was westbound on state Route 14 in Unity Township when he stopped to make a left turn into a private drive. Wilson then struck Callahan's rear. Morris, who was behind Wilson, attempted to stop and took evasive action by swerving to the right side of the road and struck a billboard sign.
