By the Salem News
POSTED: September 7, 2008

YOUNGSTOWN - A 30-year-old Homeworth man critically injured in an ATV accident Thursday night on Bayard Road died from his injuries Saturday.

Robert Wise Jr. was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been taken by helicopter from the scene of the crash which occurred on Bayard Road, just south of Georgetown Road in Knox Township, at 9:42 p.m. Sept. 4.

The Lisbon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was notified of his death Saturday afternoon.

A press release issued by the patrol said Wise and Charles Richardson II, 32, also of Homeworth, were riding all-terrain vehicles side-by-side northbound on Bayard Road when the ATVs bumped tires, causing both riders to lose control and get ejected. Neither of them were wearing helmets.

Richardson was transported to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation with no charges filed.
