LISBON- Columbiana County voters re-elected Democrat incumbent state Rep. Linda Bolon as the District 1 representative Tuesday night. She received 29,374 votes (64.38 percent).
Her opponent Republican Caroline Hergenrother received 16,251 votes (35.62 percent).
"I'm very honored that the voters in Columbiana County have the confidence in me to return me to the state house," Bolon said. "I'm really looking forward to continue working hard to bring more money back to the county."
As the current 1st District representative, Bolon sits on the following committees: Finance and Appropriations, House of Means and Ways, House Local Government and Urban Revitalization and Criminal Justice. She has also been appointed to the Hospital Measures Advisory Board, the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Board and the Ohio Unemployment Compensation Board.
As state representative, Bolon said she feels she has been instrumental in advising colleagues on both sides of the aisle on financial matters when working on bills, and hopes to continue to do so. She also stated that she has been able to help her constituents communicate with the proper government officials for issues such as unemployment.
