MCDONOUGH, Ga.-Mrs. Eunice Mae Carnes, 82, of McDonough, Ga., formerly of Leetonia, Ohio, passed away Nov. 8, 2008.
She was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, to the late Walter James and Claudia Mae (Chellis) Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Richard Caldwell in 2004.
She, along with her husband, operated the Sitler-Carnes Orchards for 30 years. She was the choir director for 14 years at St. Jacob's Church and was an elder at the Highland Presbyterian Church in Ormond Beach, Fla., after moving there in 1985. She delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years, enjoyed music, reading, sewing, traveling, and nature activities.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Carnes of McDonough, whom she married on Jan. 12, 1947; children, Ann Vincent of Oak Hill, Va., Frank Kevin Carnes of Roaring Springs, Pa., Susan Hansen of Monticello, Ga.; grandchildren, Ryan C. Vincent of Manassas, Va., Aden J. Carnes of Roaring Springs, Pa., and Sarah A. Carnes of Selinsgrove, Pa.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Dudley Rose will officiate.
Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service.
Contributions may be made to Noah's Ark Animal Rehabilitation Center or Habitat for Humanity in memory of Mrs. Carnes.
