James E. Stanyard
EAST PALESTINE - James E. Stanyard III, 89, of 1883 state Route 165, died at 6:35 p.m. Monday at Salem Community Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.
He was born June 13, 1919 in Beaver Falls, Pa., a son of the late James E. and Elner Thull Stanyard Jr. and had lived in East Palestine since 1949 coming from Sewickley, Pa.
Mr. Stanyard was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. He retired in 1981 after forty years with the former Babcock & Wilcox of Beaver Falls where he had employed as a machinist.
He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Community Church in Unity.
His wife, Jeanne (Watts) Stanyard, whom he married March 15, 1941, survives him as do two sons, James E. (Laurel) Stanyard IV and Robert (Bonnie) Stanyard and a daughter, Paula (Jay) Patterson, all of East Palestine; and a brother Eugene V. Stanyard of Georgia. Other survivors include six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Calvary Landscaping Fund. Arrangements were with the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home.
