Raffle to aid Alchemy Acres

Employees of the Salem Giant Eagle Store are sponsoring "Be a Hero," a raffle and Chinese auction to benefit Alchemy Acres animal shelter from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Pictured getting ready for the sale are Cami Jackson, photo manager, left, and Trudy Nolder, office manager. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Early birds can buy their tickets from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. today at the Giant Eagle service desk. Prizes include a $100 Giant Eagle gift card, $20 Pizza Hut gift certificate, a $20 Ohio Lottery Ticket Tree (pictured), handmade lap quilt, a "Welcome" flower pot garden bench (pictured), two bird feeders and antique hand caned chair and other items. The winning tickets will be drawn after 4 p.m. Friday. Winners need not be present, notification will be made by telephone. All proceeds benefit Alchemy Acres, the only local no-kill shelter.
