Oris H. Bacon

COLUMBIANA-Oris H. Bacon, 87, of Columbiana, died at 3:28 a.m. Tuesday at his home.

Born March 2, 1922, in New Springfield, he was the son of Harry A. and Anna V. (Gamble) Bacon.

Mr. Bacon was employed at Harold Tool as a die maker for 14 years. He also farmed and was a certified mechanic for Riehl Farm Equipment of Columbiana and Witmer's Inc. of Columbiana. During World War II he served stateside in the Navy and was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbiana.

Survivors include his wife, E. Dale (Collier-Lange) Bacon, whom he married on May 30, 1946; two daughters, Martha (Dan) Schaefer of New Springfield and Leslie Best of Columbiana; a son, Lowell (Nancy) Bacon of Columbiana; a brother, O. Edgar Bacon of New Waterford; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Martin Scott Bacon; and a daughter, Judy Lee Hartford.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Columbiana with Mr. Jerry Pingley officiating. Burial will be in New Springfield Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Columbiana or the Church of God of New Springfield.
