Bad checks
A man from Andrews Honda reported on May 5 that a phone order was processed for $1,149.98, but the credit card provided was not authorized by American Express. The case was referred to the detective division.
Driving under suspension
Daniel J. Obryant, 30, of 34803 Golf Club Road, Salem, was arrested at 4:10 p.m. May 5 for driving under an FRA suspension following a traffic stop for traveling left of center.
Vandalism
Officers arrested a juvenile resident at the Sharon Lynn Girls Home at 7:32 p.m. May 7 after kicking the front door of the building off its hinges.
No motorcycle license
Ronald J. Quinn, of 17223 Fifth St., Beloit, was arrested at 4:22 p.m. May 9 for no motorcycle license and helmet following a traffic stop for speed.
Warrant arrest
Colleen K. Cope, 41, 328 E. Washington St., Lisbon, was arrested at 5:35 p.m. Saturday on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office and expired license following a traffic stop for failure to obey a stop sign.
Fictitious plates
Jeffrey R. Barker, 23, of Serverna Park, Maryland, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. May 9 for fictitious plates and no motorcycle operating license following a traffic stop for failure to display valid registration.
OVI
Thomas J. Papic, 25, of 13700 U.S. Route 62, Salem, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle intoxicated (refusal to test) and cited for failure to control, expired license and expired registration following an investigation into a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on state Route 14.
Michael L. Whinnery, 51, of 999 Prospect St., Salem, was arrested at 1:56 a.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle intoxicated (refusal to test) following a traffic stop for traveling left of center.
SALEM
Criminal damaging
A man reported on Thursday that while at Walmart on Wednesday evening he encountered a male individual who had parked his truck in numerous spaces. He claimed that when he parked next to the truck, the individual became very upset; and upon his return from inside the store, he found coffee with chew dumped on his vehicle.
Theft
Officers responded to a business in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 4:59 p.m. Thursday where a customer reported observing a man pushing a shopping cart from the business in the area of East Third Street and North Lincoln Avenue. The business' manager affirmed that no one had permission to remove the cart.
A resident from the 800 block of Summit Street reported at 6:26 p.m. Thursday that someone entered his residence between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. that day and removed several items.
Missing child
A woman from the 800 block of West Wilson Street reported at 7:48 p.m. Thursday that her juvenile son had not been seen since 3:30 p.m. that day and that she could not find him at any of the neighborhood locations where he might be. At 8:38 p.m., officers located the son, who stated he had been playing with other kids from the neighborhood in a wooded area west of his residence.
Criminal damaging
An anonymous caller reported at 8:31 p.m. Saturday that several juveniles were attempting to break a swing at Centennial Park. Officers identified the juveniles, who admitted being on the swing, but denied trying to break it. The swing did not appear to have been damaged recently.
Burglary
An officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Third Street at 8:45 p.m. Thursday where a man reported he returned home to find his basement door open. He stated that he had locked the door prior to leaving and said he believed numerous CDs were missing, but was unsure of the amount.
Indecent exposure
Officer responded to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9:58 p.m. Thursday in reference to a woman flashing passing motorists. Upon arrival the officers identified the female juvenile, wearing a T-shirt and shorts and wrapped in a blanket, who stated she had walked to the end of the drive to look for another girl who had been walking down the street.
Prowler
Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue at 10:11 p.m. Thursday in reference a prowler. A woman claimed that a man had been looking in her window and ran away when her friend pulled in the drive. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone.
Unwanted person
A woman from the 200 block of West Wilson Street reported at 12:27 a.m. Friday that a man she knows showed up at her door highly intoxicated. She further claimed that when she would not let him in, he kicked out the screen and attempted to open the inner door. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone.
Harassment
Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Third Street at 1:27 a.m. Friday where a man reported that an unknown male was knocking on his apartment windows and door, but had left prior to his call.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
Vandalism
Officers responded to the Salem Golf Club at 11:16 p.m. Wednesday in reference to vandalism. Employees reported observing a white vehicle drive from the parking lot onto the golf course. The vehicle was located unoccupied behind the maintenance building with noted damage, but the damage to the course could not be found since it was night. The owner of the vehicle was identified as a club member, and he reported that the vehicle had been stolen from the lot. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone.
Domestic violence
Justin J. Novak, 27, of 926 Canterbury Lane, Salem, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for domestic violence after his girlfriend of the same address reported he came home around 1:45 a.m. that morning intoxicated and started an argument which escalated into a physical altercation in which she received visible injuries.
Lisbon
Car damaged
A man reported at 4:04 p.m. Thursday his vehicle was hit while parked in the McKinley School lot off Pritchard Avenue. He believes there may have been a witness to the accident.
Welfare check
Shelly Sprouse, 121 Harrison, asked her friend Sandy McGaffic to call police and then her telephone went dead at 11:11 p.m. Thursday. Police learned Sprouse's boyfriend had come to the house for the first time in six weeks and she believed he was on drugs. She had attempted to take him to get him some help, but he jerked the wheel of her vehicle into the Smith Oil parking lot, jumped out and ran away.
Unwanted dog
A female resident reported a teenage girl with a great dane inside the playground at 3:29 p.m. Friday. She had asked the girl to take the dog out of the playground for fear of the children being injured, but the girl refused. Police told her to take the dog from inside the playground.
Gear stolen
A S. Green St. man reported at 2:05 p.m. Friday his ex-girlfriend stole two tackle boxes and three fishing poles from his grandmother's house in November, while he was in jail. When police contacted her, the ex-girlfriend agreed to take the items back.
