Dorothy Alice Winter Wecht
SALEM-?Dorothy Alice Winter Wecht, age 86, of Copeland Oaks, Sebring, died at 12:25 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born July 2, 1922 in Salem the daughter of the late Carl and Susan (Shull) Young.
Mrs. Wecht moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1985 and resided there for 25 years.
Her favorite saying was "Love you all."
She was member of the Salem First United Methodist Church, the Faith Court of Amaranth, the Order of the Eastern Stars #334 and a lifetime member of the Salem Elks #305 Auxiliary.
Dorothy was active in the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, chairman of the Red Cross City Volunteers for 12 years, charter member of Grey Ladies for 28 years; she delivered meals for Mobile Meals and was secretary for Mobile Meals for seven years and a board member for seven years.
When she was in Bradenton she was a member of the Golf Lakes Woman's Club and the Star Club.
Dorothy's first husband, William F. Winter, whom she married Jan. 13, 1943, preceded her in death on March 19, 1981.
Survivors include her second husband, Frank E. Wecht, whom she married March 22, 1985 of Wooster; a son, William R. (Deborah) Winter of Salem; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Lee (Judith) Combs of Akron, Mrs. William (Linda) Herold of Salem and Karen Woodson of Johnstown, Ohio; three sisters, Martha Parks, Virginia Beckert and Betty Gretsinger all of Copeland Oaks; two grandchildren, Jeff Winter and Amy Gabbard; four great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
A daughter, Dorothy Winter in 1946 and a brother, Carl Young, also preceded her in death.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Stark Memorial with the Rev. Douglas George officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Stark Memorial.
