Mr. and Mrs. James Ewing celebrate 60 years of marriage

Mr. and Mrs. James "Jim" Ewing of Lisbon were honored on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary at family dinner party on June 14 at the New Alexander Christian Church. The women of the church served the dinner which was hosted by the couple's sons and wives, Jim and Maryann of Lebanon, Ore., Curt and Tedi of Homeworth, Brian and Kay of Oak Harbor and Tracy and Carol Ewing of Salem.

The former Doris May Haynam and Mr. Ewing were married on June 12, 1949, at the Minerva Methodist Church. The Rev. Lonzo Green officiated.

Mr. Ewing and his dad, Roy Ewing, and brother, John, farmed for 30 years, from 1942 to 1972. He also was a multi-county technician for the Soil and Water Conservation District for 27 years before retiring at age 70. He also was an accomplished fiddle player with the Ed Huffman Band of Carrollton for 50 years.

Mrs. Ewing was a surgical nurses aide at Salem Community Hospital. She also helped with elderly patients in their homes in the Columbiana County area.

The Ewings are members of the New Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Gavers where they both have served as elders and youth leaders. They also have seven grandsons, three granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren.
