COLUMBIANA-Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, with Pastor John H. Bartholomew, for Blanche Marie Shimer Ducca, 99, who passed away early Tuesday morning at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana.

Blanche was born April 8, 1910, in Saxton, Pa., the daughter of the late Raymond Edgar and Lillie L. May Shimer. She came to this area in 1972.

Blanche was a clerk at Redwood City Community Store in California for 20 years. She was a member of the Eagles in Redwood City since 1950. Blanche was a member of Zion Hill Church of the Brethren.

Blanche leaves a brother Robert Shimer of Washingtonville, many nieces and nephews including her close niece and caregiver Karen (David) Ray of Leetonia and her sisters-in-law, Nancy Shimer of East Palestine and June Herron of Leetonia.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rouse, and three brothers; Herbert, Richard, and Raymond Shimer Jr.

The family will be receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at the Zion Hill Cemetery.

The arrangements are being handled by Seederly, Mong and Beck Funeral Home Columbiana Chapel.

The family requests material tributes take the form of donations to Zion Hill Church of the Brethren.
