Wilbert Robert Chapman
SALEM-Wilbert Robert Chapman, 84, of 12415 South Salem-Warren Road, Salem, formerly of Lisbon, died at 6:30 a.m. on July 30, 2009, at his home.
He was born April 24, 1925 in Salem, the son of the late Robert Chapman and Elva (Dicken) Reese.
Mr. Chapman was a lifelong truck driver. He started his career working for his brother-in-law, William Kring at the Kring Trucking Company in Salem and retired from Roadway Express.
He was a member of the Salem First Friends Church, where he drove the Sunday School bus for many years. During WWII, Wilbert served with the U.S. Army.
His wife, Marcia Ann Gregg, whom he married June 8, 1957, survives him; along with three half sisters, Betty Johnson and Elsie Shive, both of Lisbon and Annie (George) Burrier of Salem; a half brother, John Reese of Lisbon; and three granddaughters.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Robert E. Shive; and a stepsister, Ethel Pike.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor John Pierce officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Full military honors provided by the Salem V.F.W. Post 892 and the Salem AMVETS Post 45 Burial Group will follow the service. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery.
