'Carved From Wood Luncheon' is Nov. 11 EAST LIVERPOOL-All men and women are invited to a "Carved From Wood Luncheon" at noon Nov. 11 at the East Liverpool Motor Lodge featuring Bob Wise of the Carvers Club. ACH Gift Shop hosting signing ALLIANCE-The Alliance Community Hospital Gift Shop will host a book-signing event with Brian Bradway, award-winning illustrator of Christopher Pop-In-Kins, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 13. This festive event is part of the gift shop's annual holiday open house. In addition to the book signing, the gift shop will offer 25 percent off all holiday gift items throughout the day. Christopher Pop-In-Kins is a beloved Christmas story about Santa's "very first Children's Elf." This timeless, multiple-award winning story is available in a collectible book set featuring a beautifully illustrated book, a safety-tested doll, and handsome storage case. The gift shop at 200 E. Holiday Bazaar Extraordinaire set SALEM-The Salem Community Center's fourth annual Holiday Bazaar Extraordinaire will be held Nov. 21. Vendors may now reserve a table by phone with a credit card at 330-332-5885, or in person at the SCC front desk. The registration deadline is Nov. 15. Breakfast with Santa is Dec. 5 at SCC SALEM-The Salem Community Center is hosting a buffet breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 5. Brunch will be served by The Catered Affair from 9 to 10 a.m. Children will dine with Santa, do a holiday craft and receive a photo taken with Santa. Schoch will speak at outreach brunch COLUMBIANA-Connie Schoch of Salem, a third-grade teacher at United Local Elementary School in Hanoverton, will speak at the next Reaching Out Woman to Woman brunch at 10 a.m. Nov. 14 at Das Dutch Village Inn. The gathering is a monthly outreach to all area woman. Cost is $15. Reservations can be made with either Darlene Peddicord at 330-457-1428 or Linda Sferra at 330-482-3565. Schoch, who has taught at United Local more than 30 years, is married to Jeff Schoch, senior pastor of Abundant Life Fellowship in New Waterford. They are the parents of a daughter, Kaitlin, a junior at Baldwin Wallace College. Schoch has been involved in various aspects of ministry for many years, including worship team and choir member, women's ministries, small group leader, Sunday school teacher and deacon board. She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Kent State University and a master's degree in outdoor education from the University of Akron. In addition to her teaching position, she works part time at the front desk at the Salem Community Center. Leetonia schedules lead pick program LEETONIA- The village is conducting its leaf pick up program on the north side for approximately the next two weeks. The first round on the south side is scheduled to begin Nov. 16, weather permitting. A final round of the entire village will be conducted after both sides have been completed. Residents will still have the option to rake and bag their leaves for the village to pick up over the next couple months. The village will not pick up piles of mixed materials such as brush and leaves. Residents will be responsible for having mixed material piles removed at their own expense. Leaves should be kept in the curb lawn and not in the street. Columbiana Library hosting movie COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana Public Library will host a movie for all ages at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 10. The animated film is about a 78-year-old man who ties thousands of balloons to his house and, accompanied by an 8-year-old boy, sets out to fulfill a life-long dream. It is rated PG with an approximate runtime of 96 minutes. For information and title, call the library at 330-482-5509. Program for grades 1-4 scheduled COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana Public Library will host an afternoon program for children in grades one to four from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 18. The program features stories, activities and crafts based on the characters and adventures in Mary Pope Osborne's "Magic Treehouse" book series. Pre-registration is required.
