Richard L. Saltsman
SALEM-Richard L. Saltsman, 72, of 1000 W. Perry St., Salem, died at 7:57 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, in the emergency room at the Salem Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18, 1937, in Minerva, the son of the late Edward Anson and Mabel (Shepherd) Saltsman.
Mr. Saltsman was a former member and former manager of the Salem Elks Lodge #305, previously he was the former manager of the Tri City Airport, former owner of the former McArtor Floral and worked for the City of Salem.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, a 1955 graduate of Salem High School, member of the Italian-American Club and a life member of the Independent Hose Co.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. (Jurczak) Saltsman, whom he married Jan. 19, 1957; three daughters, Vicki Becker of Tucson, Ariz., Tina Hays of Salem, and Terri (William) Fleming of Canfield; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward A. (Carrie) Saltsman Jr. of Salem and Robert (Ruby) Saltsman of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Two sisters, Ruth Crouse and Jean Martin, also preceded him in death.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Alan Smearsoll officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Stark Memorial.
