Southern 59, Lisbon 57
SALINEVILLE -Southern picked up an overtime victory at Lisbon 59-57 to open its season. Jake Boyle knocked down a 3-pointer to force overtime, and Eric Baker hit a shot with .4 second left to give the Indians the win.
Leading Southern was Baker with 20 points and six rebounds. Boyle added 18 points.
For Lisbon, William Bowyer had 20 points. Todd Padurean added 17.
Southern (1-0) hosts Conotton Valley Tuesday. Head coach George Whittaker will go for his 100th career win with the Indians.
Southern Local won the jayvee game 37-25. Luke Griffith had 12 points for Southern, Jake Russel added nine.
Lisbon (0-1) plays Tuesday at Leetonia.

COLUMBIANA -Western Reserve got its season off to a winning start with a 59-45 victory over Crestview.
Leading the Blue Devils was Jake Barker with 20 points. Shane Ewing added 11, and Eric Kennehan had nine.
Western Reserve led by only two after the first frame but used a 20-9 second quarter to put the game in control.
For Crestview, Tristan Reynolds had 17 points. Carter Hill had 13 points and six assists.
Western Reserve won the jayvee game 29-27. Thomas Bengo had 19 for the Blue Devils.
Crestview (0-1) plays Tuesday at Heartland Christian.
Western Reserve (1-0) hosts Lake Center Christian.

LORDSTOWN -Sebring fell at the hands of Lordstown in its season opener 61-54. The Trojans led heading into the final quarter but were outscored 22-10 in the frame.
Leading Sebring was Dakota Wagner with 14 points and six rebounds. Chase Good had 11 points and nine boards, and Aaron VanKirk had 12 points and four steals.
For Lordstown, Chris Polivka and Steven Cribley had 15 points each.
Sebring won the jayvee game 44-39.
Sebring (0-1) hosts Bristol tonight.

LEETONIA -Columbiana outlasted Leetonia in a shootout Friday 86-70. Both teams combined for 40 first quarter points and were tied after the frame. Columbiana rallied in the second quarter, Leetonia rallied in the third, but ultimately it was the Clippers getting the upper hand in the final frame outscoring the Bears 29-19 to seal the win.
Leading Columbiana was Tyler Denmeade with 27 points. Logan Goist added 20, and Nick Good had 13.
For Leetonia, Michael Dowling had 15 points. Cody Stokes had 14 points and 14 rebounds, Nick Altomare had 11 points, Luke Newton had 10 points, and Dan Devanzo had nine points and four steals.
Columbiana won the jayvee game 49-32. For Columbiana, Mardell Halas had 13. For Leetonia, Cody Valentine had eight.
Leetonia (0-1) hosts Lisbon on Tuesday.
Columbiana (1-0) travels to Youngstown Christian.

COLUMBIANA -Lowellville got double-digit scoring from five players en route to an 85-52 win over Heartland Christian.
Leading the Rockets were Mauro Amendola and Mike Mangine with 16 points each.
Lowellville made 51 trips to the foul line in the contest, compared to just 19 for Heartland.
Leading the Lions was Durand Foust with 18 points and Jake Farran with 14 points.
Lowellville won the jayvee game 70-20.
Heartland (0-1) hosts Crestview Tuesday.
