Charles R. “Buckie” Hillman

East Palestine - Charles R. "Buckie" Hillman, 80, of East Palestine, died at his home on Thursday.

He was born August 7, 1929 in Enon Valley, PA, a son of the late Raymond Stanley and Emma Roberta Flower Hillman.

Mr. Hillman had served in the U.S. Air Force, and had been employed for 46 years with the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, Pittsburgh, as well being involved with Gateway Pension Plans and Tri-State Pension Services. He was a member of the Enon Valley Masonic Lodge # 411 F & A.M., and had been a member of the school boards of Enon Valley and Darlington, PA. He also served as an elder at the First United Presbyterian Church, East Palestine.

Two sons, Francis and Charles Hillman, Jr, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the former Frances M. Dodge; a brother, John (Jean) Hillman, a daughter, Kris (Dave) Blom, a son, Brad (Amy) Hillman, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine with Rev. Donald Aull officiating.

Burial will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, PA. Military rites will be conducted by the combined units of the American Legion Post 31 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4579. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
