The MATLET Group, the nation's largest minority-owned commercial printing company, and Corporate Plus member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council and DiversityBusiness.com, the nation's leading multicultural internet site, recently named The MATLET Group as one of the "Top Diversity Owned businesses in the United States" in the Div500.
The MATLET Group was ranked number one among the top 100 diversity-owned businesses in the state of Rhode Island; ninth among the nation's top 100 Asian Pacific American businesses and 40th among the top 500 Diversity-owned companies across the country.
The company is owned by former Salem resident and West Branch graduate, Gary Stiffler.
The MATLET Group has also received other prestigious recognitions during the past two years, being named MWBE supplier of the year at Procter & Gamble's 13th annual Supplier Diversity Awards Luncheon in 2007; and also being named Diversity Supplier of the Year for the Greater New England Minority council at the annual dinner in April, 2009.
Stiffler received the honored "Shining Star Award" from the Greater New England Council recently at its annual trade expo. The Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council is one of the largest non-profit minority business development organization within the 39-council National Minority Supplier Council (NMSDC).The GNEMSDC has over 250 corporate members and 500 certified MBEs.Last year the combined sales of the certified MBEs topped $1.7 billion.
The MATLET Group, headquartered in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, is a holding company for five separate companies engaged in various segments of the short-run commercial printing business. The MATLET Group was formed in December 2005 by the former executive vice president of Quebecor World's Commercial Printing US operations, Stiffler, in a management-led buyout.
The MATLET Group produces high-end commercial print products such as annual reports, product brochures, and catalogs; point-of-purchase packaging such as blister pack and small folded cartons for consumer goods; specialty products such as restaurant menus. Services include commercial prepress and graphics project management, fulfillment services - assembly, pick and pack and targeted direct mail and third party freight logistics services.
Stiffler is a graduate of West Branch High School, Kent State University and completed his MBA at Ashland University.
He and his wife, the former Debra Gottberg of Lisbon, reside in Franklin, Massachusetts.
His parents, Richard and Mary Stiffler, along with a sister, Diane Uyselt, and her family reside in the Salem area.
