Artis M. Arter

LEETONIA-Artis M. Arter, 86, of state Route 164, died at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday at her daughter's home in Elyria, following a recent illness.

Born May 6, 1924, in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Terrence Sanor and Esther (McCluggage) Sanor Bare.

Mrs. Arter was employed as a waitress for 12 years at Votaw's Restaurant, and then worked at Haltec as a shop supervisor for 17 years, retiring in 1998. She attended the Lisbon Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death July 25, 2001, by her husband, Roy George Arter, whom she married Aug. 2, 1975.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Helke of Elyria; two sons, Daryl Z. Aikens of Salem and Dennis L. Aikens of Leetonia; four stepdaughters, Penny (William) Robinson of Madison, Candy (James) Steele of Leetonia, Leslie Arter of Lisbon, and Pam (John) Armstrong of Ball Ground, Ga.; four stepsons, Ronald G. Arter of Leetonia, Jeffrey L. Arter and Scott E. Arter, both of Lisbon, and Bradley S. Arter of Canton; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lisbon Assembly of God Church, 39442 State Route 517, with the Rev. Greg Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
