CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities say they will resume a search Sunday morning for a possibly downed small plane around Whitewater, about 22 miles northwest of Cincinnati.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil says deputies were sent to the Kilby Road area shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday after someone reported seeing possibly a two-seater aircraft flying in the area. The sheriff says the person reported seeing the plane dive toward the ground then seeing a plume of smoke.

Deputies and Whitewater fire and emergency crews searched by foot and by vehicles but didn't locate any wreckage. The University of Cincinnati Hospital Air Care helicopter also participated in the search before it was called off for the night. The sheriff says local airports gave no indication of receiving any distress signals or reports of missing flights.
