Mayor Wolford offers a thank you

December 25, 2010
Salem News

As we enter this joyous season of giving, sharing, and service to others, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the city of Salem employees and the many volunteers who serve in city government and on committees and commissions for their public service.

Serving the city 24/7 are our wonderful fire and police departments, along with the dispatchers. Also available 24 hours a day for service is the utilities department that provides water and sewer service to our homes.

Always on call is our superb street, electrical, and traffic and safety departments which provide daily service and extra time when needed for snow removal, storm damage, and electrical problems at any time.

During the day, we have the administrative offices at city hall, the Salem Health District and the Salem Parks Department providing daily services to our city residents.

Added to these employees are the auditor, treasurer, law director, and eight city council members who have stepped forward to run for elected office to serve our great city.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the the over 45 volunteers who serve without pay on the ten city committees and commissions. They spend many hours working for you and Salem. Thank you all for your service!

So, in the spirit of Christmas may I wish each of you a blessed Christmas and a happy and fulfilling New Year in 2011.

- Mayor Jerry L.Wolford
