BUTLER TOWNSHIP- A local campground has joined an international franchise, meaning increased services for campers.
Stoneridge Terrace on Winona Road officially joined KOA (Kampgrounds of America) this week, becoming the Salem-Lisbon KOA.
In the works for three months, the transition will mean improved guest services, according to co-owner/manager Barb Weikart-Kuder.
"We'll be able to offer live and online reservations now," she noted. "There will also be a growth in camp sites and lodging."
Weikart-Kuder said she expects to have the additional spaces ready by the end
The facility will continue to offer swimming and fishing to the public, pool and lake side pavilions for local gatherings and a variety of primitive and full hook-up camp sites including cabins and tents for overnight or seasonal use, she assured.
Capitalizing on the franchise opportunity, Weikart-Kuder said the facility will benefit from KOA's respected stature in the United States and Canada.
"It'll give us more exposure on a local, regional and national level," she explained, noting that KOA will be marking 50 years next year with a celebration that will include the campground.
Currently there are 465 KOA sites in North America. The Salem-Lisbon KOA will be the 12th in Ohio.
