The Columbiana Area Business and Professional Women's' Club presented two $1,500 scholarships during its monthly meeting July 26. The recipients this year were Lauren Ketterman from Leetonia High School and Trisha Sattler, Beaver Local.
Sattler is a 2011 graduate of Beaver Local. She will attend Akron University and plans on becoming an attorney for international law.
Lauren Ketterman, a 2011 graduate from Leetonia, will major in physical therapy at Walsh University.
Marley Guzman, Heartland Christian School was sponsored by the CABPW for Buckeye Girls State.
The CABPW supports our local youth as the number of professional women in the workplace increases. As a group, members continue to support at the state and national levels for the advocacy of women in the workforce. Locally, the CABPW awards scholarships, supports Girls State, the Christina House and the Beatitude House.
The upcoming style show is the organization's main event to raise funds to support worthy causes. The style show will be held Oct 8 at the Salem Golf Club.
This yearly event marks the 60th anniversary of this chapter's participation in the national organization. This year's style show will showcase as models some of the area scholarship winners along with representatives from Girl's State from area high schools.
The CABPW meets the fourth Tuesday of most months. The meeting place changes based on the program presented. Membership is open with the organization's mission to empower working women to achieve their full potential and to partner with employers to build successful workplaces through research, education, knowledge and policy.
