At the conclusion of the 9/11 ceremony Sunday sponsored by the Columbiana County Fair Board, quilts made by numerous county residents were presented to 43 veterans. It was mostly a light-hearted affair, but there was more than one tear shed. Above, Blair Whitman, commander of VFW Post 892 of Salem, presents a quilt created by Cindy Willis to Korean War veteran James Stelts. Stelts, a Marine, was wounded wice and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He resides with his wife Dorothy in Leetonia.
