SALEM - Members of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the Chamber organization at this year's Annual Dinner Meeting at 5:15 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Salem Golf Club. The chamber's programs and events from this past year will be highlighted and volunteers will be acknowledged.
The Annual Dinner Meeting promotes fellowship among Chamber members and it recognizes a community leader, (or leaders), with the "Outstanding Citizen of the Year" award. Also, six new chamber board members will be presented to the membership and voted upon during the program. This year's featured entertainment, back by popular demand, is comedian Mike Hemmelgarn with his hilarious ventriloquist act. Chamber members and guests are welcome.
The Chamber congratulates Carolyn Gordon Jones this year's selected "Outstanding Citizen" honoree.
A 1961 Salem High School graduate, she is a successful business woman who along with her husband, Ned, and son, Scott, own and operates Gordon Brothers Water. The company was founded in Salem in 1945 by Carolyn's father, Lloyd Gordon.
As a business owner, Jones strives to preserve her father's and her brother Bruce's legacies, by providing the best water treatment equipment, at the best price, backed by the best service the company can deliver.
In addition to being a successful business woman, she is very active with the community. Jones serves on the Salem Chamber's Beautification Committee and President's Club. She is a member of the Salem Rotary Club, the YWCA (of which she was a past board member), a current board member of Grandview Cemetery and of the Salvation Army. Also, she serves as an executive board member of Copeland Oaks and is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Salem. Carolyn and Ned, have raised their three sons Scott, Brad, and Ted in Salem, the town she loves to call home since 1966. Carolyn is a dedicated volunteer who gives back to the community. The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to have her as the 2011 "Outstanding Citizen of the Year".
Cost for the buffet, program and entertainment is $35 per individual or $70 per couple. Reservations can be made by calling the chamber office at 330-337-3473.
