SALEM-Hedwig "Hedy" Voytek, 91, of Salem, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at the Courtyard at Lexington.
She was born Aug. 13, 1920, in McKees Rocks, Pa., the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Shedo) Luxa.
Hedy had worked at the former Mullins Manufacturing as a payroll clerk and was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church where she was a eucharist minister. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Ladies Benevolent Association, Memorial Choir, funeral buffet of the church and a reader.
She served as a corporal with the U. S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve Battalion during World War II.
Her husband, Andrew M. Voytek, whom she married Nov. 12, 1945, preceded her in death December 19, 1989. Her brother, Frank Luxa Jr., also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Lori) Voytek of Salem and James (Patty) Voytek of Salem; two daughters, Kathleen Franzen and Karen Wahl both of Peoria, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 8 p.m. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
