Western Reserve 55, Southern Local 46

BERLIN CENTER - Western Reserve finally opened its season and finally opened up its new gym. The Blue Devils made it worth the wait. After getting off to a sluggish start, Western Reserve found its footing and raced past Southern 55-46.

Leading the Blue Devils was Thomas Benyo with a game-high 25 points. Jeff Clegg added 11 points, and Tim Cooper had eight.

For Southern, Kyler Woodward had 15 points, and J.J. Napierkowski added 13.

Western Reserve (1-0, 1-0 ITCL Tier 2) is back at it tonight at Leetonia. Southern (3-2, 2-1 ITCL Tier 2) hosts United next Friday.

COLUMBIANA - Crestview improved to 4-0 with a 68-25 win over United Friday. Leading the Rebels was C.J. Collins with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Collin Gilbert added nine points and four assists.

For United, Caleb Conser had nine points.

Crestview also won the jayvee game 57-22. Nick Gates had 11 for the Rebels.

Crestview (4-0, 3-0 ITCL Tier 1) plays Springfield at home Tuesday.

United (0-5, 0-2 ITCL Tier 1) hosts South Range.

MCDONALD - McDonald jumped out to an 18-5 lead after one and kept Sebring at bay 53-34 Friday. Leading the Blue Devils was Steven Polatano with 13 points.

Sebring was led by Corey Baia with 14 points. Baia hit four 3-pointers and had five rebounds. Joe Campbell had eight points, and Jake Hubbs had six rebounds and four steals.

Sebring's Dakota Wagner did not play due to injury but should be back on Monday when the Trojans (1-3, 0-3 ITCL Tier 2) plays at Western Reserve.

COLUMBIANA - East Palestine dropped Columbiana 67-20 Friday. Leading the Bulldogs was Cody Stewart with 11 points. Zak Brockman had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Jake DiCello added nine points, seven steals and four assists.

Columbiana's Jake DeJong had 11 points.

East Palestine won the jayvee game 33-28, Justin Fristik had 13 points for the Bulldogs.

East Palestine (2-2, 2-1 ITCL Tier 1) will host Cardinal Mooney Tuesday.

Columbiana (0-4, 0-3 ITCL Tier 1) travels to Mineral Ridge.

BELOIT - Carrollton's stingy defense led to West Branch's first defeat of the year 38-31 Friday in Beloit.

Leading West Branch was Scott Muckleroy with eight points and eight rebounds. Austen Rekolt added eight points.

Stephen Erickson had 10 points for Carrollton.

West Branch won the jayvee affair 51-39. Dustin Greenawalt had 15 points.

West Branch (3-1, 1-1 NBC) plays Wednesday Dec. 28 at Alliance.
