Western Reserve 43, Sebring 40

BERLIN CENTER - Western Reserve improved to 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in Tier 2 of the ITCL with a 43-40 win over Sebring Tuesday. Leading the Blue Devils was Jeff Clegg with 16 points. Thomas Benyo added 11.

Sebring was led by Jake Hubbs with 13 points. Dakota Wagner chipped in 11.

The Western Reserve jayvee team also won 50-40 in overtime.

Western Reserve (3-0, 3-0 ITCL Tier 2) plays Friday at South Range.

Sebring (1-4, 0-4 ITCL Tier 2) travels to Columbiana next Friday.

LEETONIA - McDonald held off a late Leetonia rally for a 64-60 win Tuesday. Leading McDonald was Stephen Politano with 23 points.

For Leetonia, Ian Sevenich had 20 points. Cody Stokes had 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

McDonald also won the jayvee game. A score was not provided.

Leetonia (3-3, 1-3 ITCL Tier 2) plays Friday at Crestview.

EAST PALESTINE - East Palestine fell two-points short of a comeback in a 53-51 defeat to Youngstown Mooney at home on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, which dropped the Bulldogs to 2-3, Austen Reiser scored a game-high 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Fellow Bulldog Jake DiCello added 10 points and six assists. Cody Stewart chipped in seven points and 13 rebounds.

Mooney was led by Doug Caputo's 11 points. George Brandenstein scored 10.

East Palestine (2-3, 2-1 ITCL Tier 1) plays at Lisbon on Tuesday.

HANOVERTON - South Range shut out United 16-0 in the first quarter and didn't look back in a 70-41 ITCL Tier 1 win.

Leading the Raiders was Brandon Pluchinsky with 17 points. Jordan Baker added 12, and Dan Good had 11.

For United, Brett Albright had 13 points. Kyle Widlicka had 10 points and seven rebounds.

South Range won the jayvee game 62-24. Jake Arsuffi had 16 points for the Radiers.

South Range (4-1) hosts Western Reserve Friday.

United (0-6) plays Tuesday at Heartland Christian.

LISBON - Beaver Local outlasted Lisbon 59-48 Tuesday. Leading the Beavers was Nick Miller with 18 points.

Lisbon was led by Zach Rovnak with 14 points. Zac Barnes added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Jake Borg added 10 points.

Beaver Local also won the jayvee game 58-37. Corey Brammer had nine for Lisbon. Jared Lyder had 15 for Beaver Local.

Lisbon (3-3) hosts East Palestine Tuesday.

Beaver Local (2-4) plays Tuesday at Oak Glen.

Junior High Basketball

Salem vs. Canton South

SALEM - The Salem eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Canton South 54-49. At one point in the game the Quakers trailed by 17 points. The team was led by D.J. Pullie with 28 points and Trey Toothman with 15 points. With the win the eighth grade squad improves to 2-3.

The Salem seventh grade lost 42-26 to Canton South. Cooper Bezerdi led the way with 18 points. Salem is 0-5 on the year.

Both teams will be back in action, Wednesday, Jan. 4 hosting Alliance.
