Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bowen of Salem are announcing the Oct. 9 marriage of their daughter, Shelby Dawn Bowen of Avila Beach, Calif., to Garrett Bernard, also of Avila Beach. He is the son of Craig Bernard of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Barb and Larry Van Gundy of Tulare, Calif.
The beach front wedding was held at Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa, Shell Beach, Calif. The reception was held immediately following the ceremony with 90 guests in attendance at the Lido Dining Room.
The bride wore a ivory strapless floor length gown accented with an organza ruffled skirt designed by Tara Keely. She carried a bouquet of tropical flowers.
Bridesmaids, were nieces, Jillian Pidgeon of Salem and Gracie Jones of Visalia, Calif.
Serving as groomsmen were nephews, Hayden, Parker and Christopher Jones of Visalia, Calif., and Carter and Braxton Baumberger of Brimfield, Ohio.
The bride attended West Branch High School and graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor's degree in social science and a master's degree in human relations from Oklahoma State. Prior to her wedding she was employed with Hologic in Marlborough, Maine, and is currently pursuing a second master's degree of psychology in marriage and family therapy at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Opisbo, Calif.
The bridegroom received a degree is agriculture business, and is employed with Pacific International Marketing in sales.
