Jackson-Milton takes Sebring again

Jackson-Milton 40, Sebring 34

SEBRING - Jackson-Milton won in Sebring for the first time in school history Friday 40-34. The win also gave the Blue Jays the season sweep of the Trojans and coupled with Lowellville's loss to McDonald puts the Blue Jays in first place in Tier 2 of the Inter-Tri County League.

Leading Jackson-Milton was Ryan Nagy with 12 points. The Blue Jays defense also held the Trojans to just three fourth-quarter points. Sebring led 31-29 going into the final frame.

For Sebring, Dakota Wagner had 13 points and 18 rebounds, and Ian D'Ostroph added nine points.

The free throw line proved problematic for both teams. The Blue Jays were just 5-of-17 and Sebring wasn't much better at 8-of-20.

Sebring won the jayvee game 44-30. Dylan Mick had 19 points for the Trojans.

Sebring (4-5, 2-5 ITCL Tier 2) hosts Labrae tonight.

Jackson-Milton (8-5, 6-2 ITCL Tier 2) hosts Wellsville.

Western Reserve 71, Leetonia 67

BERLIN CENTER - Western Reserve broke a four-game losing streak and completed a season sweep of Leetonia Friday with a 71-67 win in Berlin Center.

Leading the Blue Devils was Tom Benyo with a team-high 21 points and nine rebounds. Jeff Clegg added 17 points and six rebounds, while Cory Zimmerman had 10 points, and Payton Snyder added nine.

Western Reserve overcame 11 Leetonia 3-pointers.

For the Bears, Cody Stokes had a team-high 21 points. Ian Sevenich and Michael Thorne added 14 points each, and Brandon Dattilio and Zach VanGiesen had eight points each.

Western Reserve (7-5, 4-4 ITCL Tier 2) hosts McDonald Tuesday.

Leetonia (4-8, 2-6 ITCL Tier 2) hosts Southern.

COLUMBIANA - Crestview took care of Columbiana Friday 56-18.

Leading the Rebels was Adam Coppock with 13 points and four assists. C.J. Collins added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Tommy Oliver had 11 points.

For Columbiana, Jake DeJong had eight points.

Crestview also won the jayvee game 62-16. Leading the Rebels was Greg Bable with 15 points.

Crestview (9-4, 5-3 ITCL Tier 1) hosts East Palestine Tuesday.

Columbiana (1-12, 1-7 ITCL Tier 1) travels to Lisbon.

Salem vs. Marlington

ALLIANCE - The Salem eighth grade girls lost on Wednesday at Marlington 25-20. Kendra Richardson and Rylee Lieder each had six points. Sadie Alesi had six rebound, and Olivia Stiff had six rebounds, six steals and four points.

On Thursday, the Lady Quakers defeated Boardman Center 37-20. Ten players scored for Salem as the team was led by Sadie Alesi with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Brittany Zamarelli added five points and Amanda Valiente and Rylee Lieder had four points each. Kendra Richardson had seven rebounds. With the win the team improves to 5-5.
