- A caller at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday reported reckless operators and vehicles running the red light at the intersection of West State Street and state Route 45/U.S. Route 62 and Benton Road in the early morning hours when people are on their way to work. The caller was concerned after almost being struck Wednesday morning by a vehicle.
- A caller at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday reported dogs barking for an extended period of time after business hours at a business on Benton Road. The caller was told how to file a complaint and was told the owner would be made aware.
- Police received a report about an impaired driver at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday leaving the Salem Industrial Park traveling around U.S. Route 62/state Route 45. The described vehicle was not located, but Lisbon was notified and stopped the vehicle in their jurisdiction, finding no impairment. The person was released.
Lisbon
- A resident of Applegrove Apartments reported at 8 p.m. Thursday there was a female outside saying things that were freaking him out. He called back at 2 a.m. Friday to say his neighbor was making a lot of noise. Police told the neighbor if he continued to make noise he would be arrested.
Columbiana
- Someone reported fire and smoke at the corner of state Route 14 and Springfield Road at 6 a.m. Thursday. Police found it was the heating system at Columbiana Floral, and there was no problem.
- A Quincy Avenue man reported at 6 p.m. Thursday a suspicious man was walking up and down the road in front of his home making strange hand gestures and talking to himself. Police found the man who said he was walking and listening to music.
- A woman reported at 9:18 p.m. Thursday a suspicious man wearing a black hoodie and shorts was walking in the area of the laundromat and looking into the windows of a closed business. Police found the man on Railroad Street, behind the laundromat. The man told police his mother works at the bucket plant and that he went to go see her while doing his laundry.
SALEM
- Police were called at 12:43 a.m. Friday to a residence in the 300 block of East Sixth Street for a possible drug overdose. Officers and medical personnel arrived on the scene and located the person in the residence who was unresponsive, a woman allegedly in her 30's. She was transported to Salem Community Hospital and was pronounced dead by hospital staff, the report said.
- A driver's license was found in the area of North Lincoln Avenue, turned over to a police officer and placed in the dispatch area at 2:58 p.m. Friday.
- A man living in Youngstown but staying for now on Franklin Avenue called at 1:23 p.m. Friday about problems with his estranged wife, who's staying in Austintown. He said he has received over 400 calls, text messages and voicemails from her advising if she doesn't get her way, she's going to call the police and see about getting a domestic violence charge against him and a restraining order. He was told the incidents didn't appear to be happening in the city. He just wanted something on paper.
- A man called at 11:45 a.m. Friday for a parking complaint on South Lundy Avenue and East State Street. A vehicle with a Tennessee plate was found parked on the south side of the road between the end parking space and the crosswalk lines at the corner of East State Street and Lundy Avenue. A parking ticket was issued. Another vehicle parked at the other corner was moved by its owner, who had been unloading merchandise.
- A vehicle owned by a Prospect Street woman was legally parked on the south side of the street facing east at 10:18 a.m. Friday when an unknown eastbound vehicle on Prospect Street struck the vehicle on the left side, causing damage to the side and the outside mirror. The unknown vehicle which left the scene should have damage to the right side and should be missing the right outside mirror.
- A hookah vase and hoses were located at Waterworth Memorial Park west of the duck pond near the fence line at 9:47 a.m. Friday.
- A woman in the 300 block of West Pershing Street reported at 6:45 p.m. Thursday that her juvenile son was being unruly and damaged a wall in the home. He was told he has to abide by his mother's rules.
- Police were called at 5:49 p.m. Thursday to a business in the 800 block of West State Street where there was a verbal dispute over lack of payment for services rendered and alleged damage caused by the company that rendered the services. An out-of-town company installed pennant flags at the business in the 800 block and the business paid with a check, but the owner forgot to sign the check. The pennant business made several attempts to collect the outstanding debt of $210 since the Dec. 20 installation date, but had not been successful. Someone from the business was in the area and stopped by to try to collect the money, but the business owner alleged the awning was damaged during the pennant installation and he was refusing to pay until restitution was made for the damages. Both were told it's a civil matter and to seek a resolution in small claims court.
- A woman was told at 3:19 p.m. Thursday that her vehicle had been blocking a private drive leading to a parking lot for most of the day in the 700 block of East Third Street. She moved the vehicle.
- A 13-year-old Salem boy was charged with delinquency for disorderly conduct and released to his stepfather after police were called at 1:13 p.m. Thursday to Salem High School for a student refusing to follow directions. The student was on in-school suspension and would not move from a bench in the hallway after being requested to move several times. He refused to go to the office after getting in more trouble. An officer spoke to him to give him a chance to move and he again refused and raised his voice to the acting dean of students. He was handcuffed and taken into custody.
- A report at 7:37 a.m. Thursday said Clyde Brown sent an e-mail about a barking dog in the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue. No time or date was given for the incident. Police had responded there before for a dog at large, issuing a citation on Dec. 12. The situation will be monitored.
- A woman in the 600 block of Euclid Street reported a stolen vehicle at 2:27 a.m. Thursday, but an officer learned it was stolen from Leetonia. She was told to contact Leetonia Police.
- A complaint was received at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday about flyers posted on utility poles in violation of city ordinance. The flyers were removed. It was unknown who posted them.
