Jackson-Milton captures share of first league title in 44 years

Jackson-Milton 59, Western Reserve 45

BERLIN CENTER - It's been a title a long time in the making - 44 years to be exact.

Jackson-Milton clinched at least a share of its first league title since 1968 by beating Western Reserve on the road 59-45 Friday night.

Jackson-Milton's Ryan and Zack Nagy scored 20 points apiece to pace the Bluejays to the Inter-Tri County League Tier 2 title.

Western Reserve was led by Tom Benyo with 12 points. Jeff Clegg added 10 points. Dalton Korda added seven points and five boards.

Jackson-Milton finishes league play at 10-4 and improves to 12-7 on the season.

McDonald (10-6, 9-4 ITCL Tier 2) can also clinch a share of the league title if it beats Southern Feb. 24. McDonald came from behind to beat Southern Friday night 46-36 after trailing 23-10 after one quarter.

WELLSVILLE - Wellsville's Seth Bradford tallied a game-high 15 points, and Nate Scott added 13 as the Tigers used a huge fourth quarter to beat visiting Sebring 57-49.

The Tigers led by just two after three frames before scoring 24 in the final eight minutes.

Leading the Trojans was Mitch Baddeley with 14 points including four 3-pointers. Corey Baia added 13 points. Dakota Wagner had nine points and nine rebounds.

Wellsville won the jayvee game 57-38. Leading Sebring was Jerry Billingsley with nine points.

Sebring (8-8, 6-7 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Heartland Christian Tuesday.

Wellsville (10-7, 7-5 ITCL Tier 1) plays tonight at East Liverpool.

LEETONIA - Lowellvile held off Leetonia for a 62-60 win Friday night. Leading the Rockets was David Wilaj with a game-high 24 points.

For Leetonia, Cody Stokes had 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Cody Valentine added 16 points.

Lowellville improves to 9-10, 7-7 ITCL Tier 2.

Leetonia (4-14, 2-12 ITCL Tier 2) plays Tuesday at South Range.

NEW MIDDLETOWN - Springfield clinched the Inter-Tri County League Tier 1 title outright with a 46-28 win over East Palestine Friday.

Leading the Tigers was Ron Rogers with 12 points. Nick Russell added 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

For the Bulldogs, Jake DiCello six rebounds and 4 assists. and Zak Brockman had eight points each. Cody Stewart added seven rebounds.

Springfield also won the jayvee affair 40-20. Mark Schuler had 12 for the Tigers. Zak May-Robb had 10 for the Bulldogs.

Springfield (16-2, 13-1 ITCL Tier 1) plays Friday at Western Reserve.

East Palestine (8-8, 7-6 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Lowellville Tuesday.

MINERAL RIDGE - Crestview picked up a road win over Mineral Ridge 83-75 Friday night. Leading the Rebels was Nate Climo with 18 points, eight rebounds, four steals and five assists. Robert Logan added 14 points. Tommy Oliver had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Collin Gilbert had 12 points and six assists.

Chris Kirby had a game-high 20 points for Ridge.

Crestview won the jayvee game 35-17. Enzo Lucci had eight for the Rebels.

Crestview (13-6, 9-5 ITCL Tier 1) plays Tuesday, Feb. 21 at home against Heartland Christian.

Mineral Ridge falls to 6-11, 4-9 in the league.

South Range (15-3, 12-2 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Leetonia Tuesday.

Columbiana (1-18, 1-13 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Southington.

LOUISVILLE - Louisville topped West Branch in NBC action Friday night 49-39. Leading the Leopards was Cody Cheezan and Ronnie Carter with 10 points each.

For West Branch, Scott Muckleroy had 12 points and Beau Taylor added nine. The Warriors were outscored 11-3 in the second quarter and were just 3-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Louisville also won the jayvee game 49-42. Zach Mucklo had 15 for the Warriors.

West Branch (9-7, 6-7 NBC) plays Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Louisville improves to 6-11, 5-8 in the league.

COLUMBIANA - The South Range Lady Raiders picked up a road win in double-overtime 53-46 over Columbiana Friday.

Leading the Lady Raiders was Kelsey Maynard with 19 points. Kristin Robinson added 12 points, and Alexis Naples added 11.

For Columbiana, Khylea Fullum had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Baylie Mook added 14 points, and Megan Cutlip had seven points, 11 boards and five assists.

Columbiana (6-13, 4-10 ITCL Tier 1) will play at Lowellville Wednesday.

South Range (11-7, 10-4 ITCL Tier 1) plays Thursday at Poland.

South Range's jayvee girls beat Columbiana 35-21. Seirra Petrella scored 10 for South Range. For Columbiana, Lauren Schlueter scored five points.

Leading the Lady Rebels was Ashley Harrison with 24 points. Geri Sickle added 11 points, and Annie Hardenbrook pulled down eight rebounds.

Crestview begins Division IV tournament play Saturday, Feb. 18 against Leetonia at South Range High School.

Leading the Lady Blue Devils was Colleen Kennehan with 20 points and seven assists. Sissy Stubbs added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Hannah Mowery had 10 points, and April Lude had eight points and nine steals.

Paige Kiraly led the Lady Bluejays (12-7, 9-5) with 11.

Western Reserve (15-3, 12-2 ITCL Tier 2) travel to Southington today for a varsity-only affair at noon.
