Salem 65, Campbell Memorial 45

CAMPBELL - Finally. After a series of frustrating losses, the Salem Quakers got back to the wining side of things with a 65-45 win at Campbell on Tuesday.

"It's been very frustrating lately, but tonight we came out played with real intensity and played well as a team," Salem coach Rich Hart said. "We played the way we are capable of playing."

The Quakers jumped out to a 23-9 lead after one quarter of action and led 34-17 at the half. Salem piled on 25 more points in the third and were up 59-34 heading into the final frame. The Quakers only notched six in the fourth, but the damage had already been done.

"We moved the ball well and were able to score inside and outside," Hart added. "We got good contributions from everyone, and the best part was we played some really good man-to-man defense and shut them down."

Ryan Bush led the Quakers were 24 points. Trent Kenreigh added 18 with four 3-pointers. Anthony Shivers contributed eight points.

"Bush and Kenreigh shot the ball well," Hart said. "Bush has been real steady here as of late, but Trent's shot has been off. Tonight, he shot the ball extemely well. Hopefully be broke out of his slump and is back to being the shooter we all know he can."

All and all, Rich was more than pleased.

"This was an all-around team win," he said. "Ryan and Trent did a great job shooting. Max (Wolfgang) and Tony (Shivers) did a great job inside and we got help off the bench. Brendan Webb took the ball and did a great job of leading us on the court. All things were pretty positive tonight."

Campbell was led by Anthony Naze who dropped in six 3-pointers on his way to posting a game-high 27 points, but he was the only Red Devil to notch double digits.

Salem is now 7-12 and plays Louisville at home on Friday on Senior Night.
