Bowling league scores announced

EAST LIVERPOOL - Love Others (60.5-39.5) leads the standings of the East Liverpool Men's Church Bowling League. Senior Men 956-44), St. Al's (53.5-46.5) and Believers are the next three teams in the standings. Over Hill and 3 Generations are tied at 50.5-49.5, Destiny House (50-50) and Holy Rollers (49.5-50.5) follow. Finally, Rogers Assembly of God and Longs Run Presbyterian are tied at 46-54, Wellsville Christian is next at 44-56 and St. John's Lutheran rounds out the standings at 42.5-57.5.

All-star meeting being held Sunday

LISBON - The Columbiana County Basketball Coaches Association will be holding its annual all-star selection meeting at 5 p.m. Sunday at The Taste of Country Restaurant in Lisbon. A representative from each of the county's boys and girls basketball programs are required to attend.

Benefit raffle tickets to be on sale

WELLSVILLE - Thompson Park Softball League Committee will be selling tickets for a benefit raffle at the Wellsville Save-A-Lot. Tickets will be sold from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the store Mondays and Fridays. There will be four drawings for a $250 grocery certificate. Tickets are $2 each. The store drawing will be 5 p.m. on April 14.

Basketball booster meeting being held

CALCUTTA - The Beaver Local Lady Beavers Boosters Basketball Club will be holding a meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tim Hortons in Calcutta. Banquet plans will be discussed.

Turkey shoots every Sunday begin at 10 a.m.

CHESTER - Turkey Shoots will be held at the Chester-Newell Sportsmen Club on Gas Valley Road on Sundays through April 1. Shoots begin at 10 a.m. $2 per shot, Lucky X, $5 for money shoots. Southern Local jr. high winters sports awards

SALINEVILLE - Southern Local will hold its junior high winter sports awards program at 6 p.m. Wednesday. All 7-8th grade winter athletes will be honored.

Ohio Lakers AAU basketball open gym

LISBON - The Ohio Lakers AAU travel basketball teams?will hold open gyms March 4 at Lisbon High School. The scheduled times are: 5-8th grade boys?(11 a.m to 12:30 p.m.), 9-12th boys (12:30-2 p.m.), 9-12th girls (2-3:30 p.m.), 5-8th girls (3:30-5 p.m.). Open gyms are open to all players. Offensive Line Clinic today at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown State football coaching staff will be hosting an Offensive Line Clinic in the WATTS on the YSU campus from 12-6 p.m. today. The clinic is open to high school and college coaches, offensive line enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning more about the position. Two BCS Offensive Line Coaches, a former NFL All-Pro and a veteran of both the collegiate and professional ranks will present including WVU O-Line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, OSU Co-Offensive Coordinator and O-line Coach Ed Warinner, Tony Wise, a 40-year coaching vet who most recently was an assistant at Pitt, and LeCharles Bentley, a three-time NFL Pro-Bowl O-lineman and All-American at Ohio State. Registration starts at 11 a.m. Cost is $30 and lunch is included in the fee.

Southern Local alumni basketball game

SALINEVILLE - All Southern Local alumni are invited to participate in an alumni basketball game March 16 with proceeds going to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A 30 and over co-ed game will begin at 6 p.m., followed by an under 30 co-ed game. There is a $10 entry fee and all participants will receive a t-shirt. Interested alumni must register by March 7 by contacting Kimmi Blatch at 330-853-8369.

BLHS mandatory spring sports meeting

CALCUTTA - Beaver Local will hold its OHSAA Mandatory spring sports meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the high school auditorium. All students, parents, and coaches playing or trying out for a spring sport are required to attend.

Stratton Seacats holding 'swim-a-thon'

STRATTON - The Stratton Seacats Swim Team will be holding their annual Swim-a-Thon Mini Relay for Life from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11 at the Stratton Indoor Pool. The Seacats are challenging all local teams and the public to come and participate in the Ohio Valley Swim-a-Thon to recognize the sport of swimming and bring awareness for the cause and raise money for the Relay for Life-American Cancer Society.
